Courtney Kline enters her seventh season with Penn Highlands Volleyball Club. Along with numerous other Penn Highlands teams, Kline coached the 16 Cadillacs who held the #1 spot in the Ohio Valley Region Club Divison and clinched the Ohio Valley Region Championship title in 2006.
Kline currently serves as Physical Education and Sports Studies Assistant Professor, and head volleyball coach at Bethany College in Bethany, WV, where she is working to build a PAC championship program. C
In her 3rd and most successful season, Kline was voted President’s Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, after leading the Bison to a 16-15 record and the program's first appearance in the PAC Tournament since 2004. Only four programs in all of Division III had a bigger one-year turnaround than Bethany, who improved from five wins in 2008 to the 16 this year, which was also the most triumphs by a Bison squad since 1992. The season was also highlighted by Bethany snapping long losing streaks to conference foes Waynesburg and Grove City and a five-set narrow defeat to Washington & Jefferson in the PAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
Before her position at Bethany, Kline coached at Penn State Fayette, the Eberly Campus where in her two seasons with the program clinched back-to-back PSUAC Championship titles (2005,2006). The 2005 win marked the first-ever championship title for Penn State Fayette. In addition to the titles, Penn State Fayette has made significant advances in their programs earning the #1 USCAA 2006 National Ranking, 2 USCAA All-American, and NCAA III out-of-conference wins. Kline was also awarded 2005 and 2006 PSUAC Coach of the Year. In 2006, she was awarded the Tri-County Athletic Directors Women’s College Coach of the Year Award.
Kline attended Cedarville University in 1999-2003 where she earned her Bachelors of Arts in Physical Education and competed on the intercollegiate women’s volleyball team for four years. She was named to the 2002 NCCAA All-Midwest Region team as libero, and was a member of 1999-2002 NAIA Region Qualifying teams. Kline also held top-ten rankings in digs, game played, service percentage, and aces. Kline earned her Masters of Science in Sport Management from California University of Pennsylvania. She was also a former player for Penn Highlands Volleyball Club in its inaugural season, 1998, and 1999.
Kline also coached for Greene County Volleyball Club of Jamestown, OH in 2002 and 2003 where she guided her 17 Open team to the Ohio Valley Gold Division at the Ohio Valley Region Championships. In 2003 she served as the Assistant Coach for Cedarcliff High School in Cedarville, OH finishing the season 9-9 overall. Kline also coached for Connellsville Area High School in 2004, and served as Junior High West Head Coach for the 2005 season.
